36 Days of Type

36 Days of Type is an annual, Instagram based invitation for creatives to design and share a letter/number for 36 consecutive days. Each character was created on the assigned day; with only a few minutes to dedicate to each submission, it was crucial to develop an efficient approach. Each submission was created through a collage-based reconstruction of existing typefaces. The fonts were curated, aligned, printed, ripped, and reformed to create each character. Photographs were taken on an iPhone 6 and edited with Instagram. The process and visual direction were inspired by the sediments of torn posters that occupied the subway during my visit to NYC last summer.
