Atom
Atom is a chiseled typeface with vertical stress and tight, uniform counter spaces. Its proportions were inspired by the display type on Wim Crouwel’s “Hiroshima” poster (1957) for the Van Abbe Museum in Eindhoven, Netherlands. From these initial characters, a grid was formulated to develop the rest of the alphabet, numerals, and a practical set of symbols. This project is dedicated to Wim, who passed away in 2019.
