Ritual was a month long horror movie marathon that I organized and hosted in October of 2018. Twelve films were played across the month, screening on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. To foster anticipation for the event, I developed, designed, produced, and mailed invitations in the form of a zine. Inspired by grimoires, each film was encoded into a symbol that later became the center of a “spell,” alluded to through unique magic circles that complemented film details. A short story by the acclaimed horror author, H.P. Lovecraft, interjected the content to provide further allegory and disrupt pacing.

Limited use of color served as a stark brand element that also reduced production costs. The invitations were digitally printed with black ink on Neenah’s Astrobright Papers (Rocket Red). The catalog is sized at 5x8” and the foldout poster, serving as a half-jacket, is 17x23.” An edition of 22 were produced.
